INCI: Sodium hydroxide, NaOH (technical grade)

Sodium hydroxide (also caustic soda, chemical formula NaOH) is a white hygroscopic solid. It dissolves in water, generating a great deal of heat.

Caustic soda reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to form sodium hydrogen carbonate and is therefore stored in airtight containers. To prevent the sodium hydroxide from binding water from the air, it can be stored together with a desiccant.

Important: As you are working with caustic sodium hydroxide solution during production, it is NOT recommended that you make soap yourself with children. Protect your skin and eyes. Wear long sleeves and trousers, gloves and safety goggles.

The safety data sheet is available for download.
