Rokons BBS is a combination of benzoic acid and sorbic acid in benzyl alcohol. Due to the organic acids, Rokons BBS can be categorised as a ‘mild preservative’ as long as the pH value of the end product is not higher than 5.4. It is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, yeasts and moulds at acidic pH values.

Rokons BBD is a COSMOS-approved preservative blend that can be used in aqueous and surfactant products as well as emulsions. Pre-neutralisation is sometimes necessary to achieve good solubility of the organic acids. After pre-neutralisation, the pH value should be adjusted to <6 in order to achieve an effective preservative effect.

When used alone, we recommend a concentration of 1%.
