INCI: Oryza Sativa Starch
Rice Starch is a fine powder of vegetable origin with excellent properties. The fine particle size has a significant influence on the absorption capacity.
There are 2 different behaviours of Rice Starch depending on the application:
Used at a temperature below 50°C: Rice Starch is an ultra-silky, translucent powder that absorbs oil, reduces shine and diminishes the appearance of pores, but does not dry out your skin. When used in skincare products, Rice Starch provides a long-lasting matte finish and leads to a significant improvement in skin texture and moisture levels. Irritated skin in particular is soothed. Rice Starch is ideal as a replacement for talc, which is known to take moisture out of the skin and thus dehydrate it. It enables the formulation of "talk free" products. In hair care products, Rice Starch absorbs excess sebum for more beautiful hair.
When Rice Starch is incorporated into the water phase and heated to 70°C, it takes on the role of a gelling agent, which can be used as a co-emulsifier in emulsion systems or even enables emulsifier-free formulations.
