INCI: Hydrated Silica

With a particle size of 10-12 µm, hydrated silica is the perfect filler in skin care products. Its light-diffusing properties are said to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. An added benefit is that it has a mattifying effect.

Hydrated Silica also helps to reduce stickiness in formulations such as sunscreens.
It should be noted that it does not build up viscosity like other types of silica.


The benefits of Hydrated Silica in colour cosmetics are that the uniform particle size distribution gives a unique, silky-soft, non-drying skin feel. It can be used in a variety of applications such as skincare, leave on, sunscreen and deodorant. In lipstick formulations, it provides a silky matte finish.
