INCI: Euphorbia Cerifera Cera/Candelilla Cera

A wax obtained by extraction from the candelilla bush (Euphorbia antisyphilitica) - a Mexican shrub species. This wax provides a soft consistency in cosmetic formulations. It is harder than beeswax but softer than carnauba wax.
Cosmetics containing candelilla wax are easier to apply and feel very pleasant on the skin. This wax is found in hand and foot creams in particular. Lipsticks and moisturisers also benefit from its properties.

Due to its geographically limited occurrence, the candelilla plant is protected by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. This means that it can only be exported outside the EU with CITES (species protection document).
